JAZZ was alive and fun was had by all! The Baltimore-Washington JAZZfest and the African Art Museum of Maryland thank guests, supporters, friends for once again making the Claude Ligon House of JAZZ a one-of-a-kind, a resounding and an outstanding JAZZ event. Saturday June 14, 2008 at the African Art Museum of Maryland in Historic Oakland from 7 PM to 11 PM, the doors were open and the senses of all present were excited with exhilarating JAZZ—a variety of JAZZ forms to meet everyone’s tastes. A repertoire of quality music was indulged along with fine food and drink.

Steve Guyger in Birdland: A master on the blues harmonica had his fans a hootin’ and a hollerin’ and a dancin’ in their seats and on their feet.
Greg Hatza in The Cotton Club: On the Hammond B3 organ with the Greg Hatza ORGANization provided blues infused with bop and a whole lot of soul—always punching and lush.
Carlos Johnson in18th & Vine: Blew his alto sax and sang the blues so that his audience was drawn into his mesmerizing musical conversations.
Mark Sherman in The Blue Note: A visionary who mixed JAZZ and classical music played his vibraphone with a brash, sprinting edge and a declamatory, ringing sound.

Gail Baer in Village Vanguard: An unassuming vocalist, whose styling bridge JAZZ and blues, delivered her lyrics as though she was talking to her listeners.

Russell Gunn (Special Guest Artist): Played his trumpet with abandon when he sat in with vibraphonist Mark Sherman and evidenced that he was a serious JAZZ talent on the scene.
